Gutz appeared on the loading dock one morning, sat down on a crate that buckled respectfully, and never left. He is the crew's anchor in every sense — nothing gets past him, nothing knocks him over, and no group order is ever miscounted because Gutz simply finishes whatever arrives unclaimed. Grimm guards the door; Gutz guards the dock; the two of them nod at each other across the yard once per shift like rival mountains at peace.
